The Yellow Chair Salon is an international artist community and professional development platform dedicated to fostering rigorous dialogue, creative growth, and meaningful connection among contemporary artists.
We combine virtual programming with a dedicated home at Art Cake in Brooklyn, creating opportunities for artists to engage both online and in person through critique, mentorship, exhibitions, residencies, and public programming.
The organization is built around four core programs: Salon, our ongoing conversations with leading artists, curators, critics, and cultural practitioners; Symposia, artist-led workshops and focused discussions that encourage deeper exploration of ideas and practice; Independent Study Program (ISP), an intensive cohort-based program centered on critique, research, and professional development; and Pods, small peer groups that provide sustained support, accountability, and community throughout the year.
At its core, Yellow Chair Salon believes that artistic development thrives through dialogue, exchange, and sustained engagement. We support artists at all stages of their careers by creating accessible pathways for critical feedback, professional opportunities, and lasting relationships within a vibrant international community.
Committed to accessibility, inclusivity, and artistic excellence, Yellow Chair Salon seeks to keep high-level artistic dialogue, mentorship, and professional development within reach for a broad range of artists. We recognize that financial resources, geography, and time constraints often limit access to creative opportunities, and we strive to create flexible, affordable programs that allow artists to participate in ways that fit their lives and practices.
